Android vs iPhone 4 – Who is Going to Win the War?
Today, the Android vs. iPhone comparison is almost like determining whether someone is a cat or dog person. Much of it depends on personal preference. Generally, owners of each will tell you that they would never consider switching to the other. The debate over Android vs. iPhone 4 becomes an issue of what the user is accustomed to. Habits are hard to break and comfort zones too difficult to stray from. Objectively, there are some pros and cons to each and if you have never owned either, you may be in the best position to determine the best choice in an Android vs. iPhone match-up.
Android versus iPhone – Which Should You Choose?
While both brands have different models, the number of Android phones on the market is higher than the number of iPhones. The fact that Android is an open platform allowing access and development by different manufacturers and application designers gives many more choices in phone styles. The platform of the iPhone is open for various application developers but the design and manufacturing of the iPhone remains exclusively with Apple Computers.
On the one hand, this may seem limiting. On the other, continuity of design and compatibility of accessories and applications is one of the strong points of the iPhone. To me it’s like comparing the PC to the Mac and although I’m a PC user, I’ve been leaning towards the Mac as I’m frustrated with all the issues that come with a PC. With the Apple, everything just works!
When looking at the design of the Android vs. iPhone, the availability of a hardware QWERTY keyboard may be one of the reasons many people will never leave the Android. Conversely, that keyboard keeps the Android weighing more and feeling relatively clunky compared to the sleek 4.8 ounce iPhone 4.

Android Market vs iPhone App Store
Considering the Android vs. iPhone 4 in terms of available apps really leaves the iPhone the clear winner. The iPhone has over 425,000 available apps with more being added daily. Android offers a relatively paltry 100,000 apps and has multiple apps stores which is really confusing and convoluted. Just looking at the apps available makes it clear which phone is preferred in the Android vs. iPhone race by most recognizable brand names.
The iPhone has apps for just about everything. They have news apps including CNN and all the major news outlets, Martha Stewart, Weber’s Grills, celebrity chefs, several news print organizations including the New York Times, People, and the Huffington Post. The most notable names on the Android app list are the Food Network, CNN, AOL and USA Today. There are some more familiar names but they are far more scarce than on iPhone’s list.
Android vs iPhone Games
Android vs. iPhone 4 on the games front is another drastically uneven match. Although Android has some nice titles, the graphics are at a level far inferior to iPhone. There are also a lot more categories and titles on iPhone than on Android.
Who is going to Win the Android vs iPhone 4 War?
All in all I think the Android vs. iPhone 4 is going to be a major battle, but in the end they will end up taking their fair share of the market. There might not be a clear winner, but I have the feeling that the iPhone will have the clear edge especially after iCloud comes out. The reason why it has a better chance of winning is because the phone is so easy to use, but also extremely powerful. The Android phone on the other hand is powerful, but also confusing at least for the non-techie. So, my winner in the Android vs. iPhone war, is going to have to go to the iPhone!
